Course Load Permitted

The number of courses that a student is allowed to enroll in during a semester is determined by the Office of Registration (in consultation with the Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Academic Affair, the Dean of Students and department heads). Decisions are based on the required courses the student needs to complete his or her degree and the judgment of university officials concerning the likelihood of student success in completing all courses he/she wishes to enroll in.

Adding a Course

A student may change his/her program by adding a course(s) within the first week of classes. To do this a student must submit a drop/add form signed by the Dean or his representative and course instructor.

Dropping a Course

A student may change his/her program by dropping a course(s) within the fourth week of classes. To do this a student must submit a drop/add form signed by the Dean or his representative and course instructor. Withdrawals during the first two weeks of classes will not appear on a student’s permanent record. A withdrawal after this time will appear on the record.

Emergency Withdrawal

Under certain emergency circumstances and with the unanimous approval of the course instructor, the Dean of Students, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and the Office of Registration, the student may be allowed to withdraw from the course after the 30th contact hour. A grade of W for the course will be recorded on the studentґs transcript.

Unauthorized Withdrawal

Withdrawal from a course after the end of the withdrawal adjustment period of 30 contact hours (except in the case of an emergency withdrawal) is not permitted. Failure to attend class does not constitute withdrawal. The student will receive the final grade of F if he/she:
  • does not sit for the examinations, submit the required papers or projects, or fails to attend more than 30 hours of class lecture;
  • has neglected to execute an authorized or emergency withdrawal;
  • was not excused from the examination/paper requirements;
  •
  • was not officially granted an Incomplete in the course;
and/or
  • otherwise neglected to complete the course requirements.
