MBA 601 - Accounting for Strategic Management and Decision Making

This course examines the use of management accounting systems to solve problems and manage activities in an organization. Blending contemporary theory with practical applications and actual company experiences, the course equips the student with a framework for management accounting and control systems and the means whereby the design and operation of these systems create value for the organization.
Prerequisites: GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Credits 3

MBA 602 - Information Technology for Effective Management

The Course focuses on information technology management in the workplace. The course will discuss the role of information technology as a tool for communication and control in all aspects of a product or service provider. It will examine IT from a variety of viewpoints including IT in the digital economy, advantage. Issues of employee abuse and of preservation of privacy, as well as other moral issues will also be examined.

MBA 603 - Marketing Goals, Strategies and Objectives - The effective Management of Marketing Goods and Services

An advanced examination of marketing management discussing emerging issues in the management of the effective delivery of goods and services.

MBA 604 - Challenges of Business Management in a Global Environment

Through the study of text and integrated cases, as well as simulations, the course focuses on the challenges of contemporary management both domestically and as complicated by the4 lowering of trade barriers and the concomitant rise of multinational business. Issues such as workplace diversity, the environment of management, planning, organizing, leading and controlling are considered both domestically and as part of a multinational organization. Contemporary management theories are examined and tested in a hypothetical environment.

MBA 605 - Ethics of the Marketplace

This course will present ethical issues faced by managers in the conduct of the business of the corporation. Classical and contemporary ethical thought will be surveyed and the application if this thought to contemporary business problems and environments will be considered. The course will also focus on the special problems attendant multinational businesses with the cross-cultural pull being exerted. Students will be exposed to cases involving cultural conflict and resolutions will be examined.
Prerequisite: MBA 604. Credits: 3

MBA 606 - Quantitative Analysis

Applications of simple and multiple linear regression, analysis of variance and time series, analysis to business problems including forecasting, decision-making, and model-building. Reviews applications of multivariate analysis to solving business problems. Topics include: hypothesis formulation and testing of multivariate regression models, correlation analysis, partial correlation and the estimation of non-linear models. Problems will be drawn form marketing, finance, and economics.

MBA 610 - Objective Based Financial Management

This course will review fundamentals and apply corporate financial strategies, including maximizing of resources, the accomplishment of long and short term financial goals, planning, pricing models, corporate capital structure, the cost of capital as well as long term financing merges and acquisitions and international finance.
Prerequisite: MBA 604. Credits: 3

MBA 640 - Organizational Transformation: Managing for Change

Through the use of case studies and game theory, the course equips the student with the tools and concepts necessary to recognize those points in business development where change is either inevitable or desirable and to manage the business effectively during and through the period of transformation.

MBA 620 - Human Resources Problems, Challenges and Management

Through cases studies, the course examines the issues and challenges inherent in personnel related issues, including issues regarding recruitment, placement and retention, growth, compensation, labor relations and employee security and international human resource management.

MBA 625 - Introduction to Operations Management

This is a survey course designed to introduce the students to the study of operations management. Subjects to be studied include forecasting, design of production systems/ quality standards, including ISO 9000, TQM and the Baldridge Award criteria; and operating and controlling the system.
Prerequisite: MBA 601, 604, 606 and 645. Credits: 3

MBA 630 - Advanced Entrepreneurship

An advanced study of the risks, problems, opportunities involved in the start up, management, finance, marketing and growth of a new venture. Topics covered include identifying and evaluating opportunities, entry strategies, marketing, financing and strategies for growth, traps and identification of areas of danger and failure.
Prerequisite: MBA 604. Credits: 3

MBA 635 - Legal Environment of Business

An advanced and intensive study of the legal environment in which business is conducted. Students will. Through the examination of cases, hypothetical examples and lecture, gain and appreciation of the legal and regulatory environment in which business operates. They will also learn to appreciate the issues that will generate legal consequences. Study will include an examination of forms of business enterprise. The legal system in the United States and Russia business torts, contracts, the Uniform Commercial Code, including provisions relating to sales of goods equipment leases, secured transactions, negotiable instruments, bulk sales, property, employment, financial reporting and disclosure and antitrust issues.
Prerequisite: MBA 601, 604, 606. Credits: 3

MBA 650 - Leadership

The purpose of this course is to develop the applicable organizational skills to function as a Chief Executive Officer. It centers on the particular traits needed to develop a global perspective and to bring together the necessary multicultural business alliances in order to lead am organization in the new century. Students will explore various leadership theories and models, leadership across cultures, visionary leadership, leadership ethics and attributes, organizational culture and facilitating change.
Prerequisite: MBA 604. Credits: 3

MBA 660 - Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

Negotiation is perhaps the most critical of managerial skills. The course explores the major concepts and theories of bargaining and negotiation and the dynamics of interpersonal and intergroup conflict and its resolution.
Prerequisite: MBA 604. Credits: 3

MBA 665 - Economic Policy and Analysis.

Analysis of management decisions concerning real options, cost determination, pricing, and market entry and exit. This course also develops and applies models of the world's economies to explain long-run trends and short-run fluctuations in key macroeconomic variables, such as: GDP, wage and profit rates, inflation, interest rates, employment and unemployment, budget deficits, exchange rates, and trade balances.
Prerequisite: MBA 601, 604, and 606. Credits: 3

IB 605 - Law and Regulation of International Business Transactions

This course will cover the traditional, contemporary and developing issues of international law and regulation of international trade. The course will inform the student of the impact of international order and commerce and examine the attempts of international organizations to address and resolve the risk of transnational business. Special attention will be given to government regulation of business enterprise and legal liabilities.
Prerequisite: MBA 604, and 635. Credits: 3

IB 620 - International Accounting

This course examines the international dimensions of accounting, including comparative accounting practices, international harmonization, foreign currency transaction, risk analysis and financial statements analysis.
Prerequisite: MBA 601. Credits: 3

IB 625 - International Finance and Financial Planning and Forecasting

The course presents the topics of foreign exchange management, exchange risk, international capital budgeting, international tax planning and financing foreign trade. The methodology for evaluating multinational risks and return in a variety of international markets is presented. Forecasting and planning for changes in foreign exchange markets, currency futures, options and swaps, and anticipating currency devaluation around the world are discussed. Forecasting price changes and returns on equities and bonds in the international setting are examined.
Prerequisite: MBA 601, 602, 604, 610, and IB 620. Credits: 3

IB 640 - International Marketing

Examines the development of international marketing programs. Emphasizes the application of marketing principles to a multinational environment.
Prerequisite: MBA 603, and 604. Credits: 3

CAPSTONE COURSE

MBA 690 - Strategic Management

This advanced course examines the formulation and implementation of organization goals and objectives with regard to the firm's financial position, marketing capabilities and human resources. Principles of management, leadership, accounting, information technology, marketing, and finance are interwoven to consider such issues as the company mission, vision, organizational issues, and competitive issues.
Prerequisite: Completion of 30 graduate credits in program. Credits: 3
